Follow up

Well, little Connor made it through and got to come home today. Thanks for all the prayers.

Went to the post office to mail our girl a package and the postmaster was so sweet. She told me all about the on-line services the post office has. I was truly amazed. Did you know you can order cards from them and they will mail them out for you. I'm talking $2.99 and that includes everything. I can also create an address book , like for friends I mail to a lot . Some may already know of all this great stuff but if you don't go check it out http://www.usps.com/

Have a Terrific Tuesday !!

Meet Connor

Please Pray

Please pray for this little guy. He is Connor and Monday afternoon he is about to undergo his first of many surgeries for his cleft palette. He was adopted from China by the awesome Egge family and in the past four months he has adjusted so well. He is such a funny little guy and has brought such joy to all that meet him. Please let him find a way into your prayers.
Thanks so much!

Yummy Pumpkin Bread

Tried a new recipe Pumpkin Butterscotch Bread and I must tell you it is so yummy. It has so many flavors going through it. From the oats to the butterscotch chips it just screams flavor. Here's a peek. I'm trying to remember what blog I found it.
Hope you are enjoying a beautiful autumn Sunday!!

Fall

Trying to get my home Fall ready. These are a few treasures. Not sure I like my new door arrangement. I'm thinking it would look better on Julies door or Robyns. Can you believe I have a friend that made me that awesome fall quilt? Lucky me. I'm not much of a Halloween decorator but I have been enjoying the word BOO. So my tree is a branch I painted and the pumpkin holder is the bottom of a lamb I painted. Who loves black spray paint...I do. The Boo sign is a frame from the dollar tree and I printed the letters out on my computer. I saw someone else did EEK. Just thought it was cute and cheap. The door decoration is some of the treasures Emm and I found. I think .50 each for these awesome picture frames. Ribbon is a beautiful satin and it was $1.80.
This is just a start but with the weather changing I am sure in the mood for fall.
Enjoy this beautiful day!

Fruits of My Labor

I canned !! Notice the word can? If I can do this you can too. The boys and I picked apples and got a tub full. You know what I love about apples they can look kinda yucky on the outside but boy their inside is just right. Kinda like people. Have you ever been blown away by a persons spirit instead of their flaws? I love when that happens. I could go on and on about apples and people but did I mention I canned?

Goodies We Made

Got our girl back to school and wanted to share a few pictures of things we made this week. College wear can be so expensive and sometimes a little boring. So we made our own.

Evacuation

Evacuation

Well, who would have thought in the hills of southern Indiana that your daughter would be evacuated because of hurricane Ike. We had to go pick our girl up this past Monday due to the damage that Ike did to the school. No electric or water and no school for a week. Not how we thought our girl would begin her college days but I truly believe that God makes everything new and this is Emm's new start. She is going back to a schedule that is correct, cooler weather and I think with a refreshed spirit. I will hate to see her go but for me this time will be a little easier. As her mom I want her to succeed and make all her dreams come true. Did I mention she's got a gala to go to the very next weekend she's back? How awesome is that? A gala, I just like saying it.
It's been a great week and she even got to see Levi play in a school football game. He did awesome!! She's taking all the credit for that one. I didn't want to hurt her feelings but he's been playing very well this season. She's excited about attending church with us tomorrow and we'll have lunch and then back to school we go.

Have a wonderful weekend. I'll post more later. Her and I went treasure hunting and I found loads!!

Halloween Banner

Something spooky happened with my picture of the Halloween banner...it vanished! So I will try and get another one when I go by my booth. It's made like the boo banner but it's a lot bigger. It's so cute. We keep selling that one at the booth.

Halloween Banner 24.95

This concludes the Banner parade. Just for now, because we are working on several others that you are going to love.

Thanks so much!

Good Stuff

Some really good stuff at church today. Here's some things to think about.

Pursue GOD First

Matthew 6:33

We honor God when we show that we trust him to be bigger than any giant we may face.

When we take on the giants of this world we give people a glimpse of God's greatness.

Is there a giant your battling right now or need to? Please go confidently trusting your God.

Have a wonderful week!!

Nothing you do for your children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us,hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted.

Parenting

Went to see our girl yesterday and had a lovely visit. It's amazing how much stuff they fit into those dorm rooms. I wanted to reorganize her stuff but I refrained. It's her space. It's hard to step back out of the mommy role but it's so important to make that transition from mommy to peer(that's for you Robyn). Because I want to grow into the next level of our relationship. Growing up is hard for us mommies. Sometimes it's harder for us than it is for our kids.
Note to all parents pour kind words on your children. I mean drench them in positive, reaffirming , encouraging words. With my recent college visit and middle school subbing gig I am so discouraged that parents are checking out and not nurturing our young. I actually heard an 18 year old say"wow, your parents like you that must be nice." Are we fussing too much and forgetting they need affirmations too? I like to be encouraged. Don't you?
